Career Highlights

Heather’s first job out of college was working as a Meteorological Data Specialist to support rocket and shuttle launches at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. She was able to see out the end of the shuttle program, and saw several launches and landings at Cape Canaveral. Once the shuttle program ended and she was laid off, she found her way to the air quality realm where she has worked in both the public and private sectors. She has experience conducting air quality modeling, analyzing real-time data for air quality forecasts, preparing emissions calculations, validating air quality and meteorological monitor data, and community outreach. During her time as an air quality forecaster in North Carolina, she helped triple the Air Quality Forecast Center’s social media following by preparing routine blog posts about how air quality is measured, reported, and influenced by meteorology.

Get to know Heather

Have you ever had a nickname (or two)? If so, what are/were they?

I am not sure if I’d call it a nickname per say, but I play roller derby and skate under the name “Stormy Heather,” or “Stormy” for short

When you were 8 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A meteorologist!

What about ALL4 has surprised you the most?

Both the interview and onboarding processes are very thorough.

What was the most memorable Halloween costume you ever wore?

Not a Halloween costume, but I do have an epic fall fairy ‘fit for the Renaissance Faire. Someday I’ll make a winter, spring, and summer version.

Stick shift or automatic?

I’ve been driving a stick shift since I was 17 — only my first vehicle was an automatic! They’re getting harder to find, so I’ll be bummed if I ever have to switch back.

Who is the most famous person you have ever met?

Amanda Palmer — I went to her book signing when I was in Austin, TX.

Do you have any hidden talents that people you meet would not expect?

I enjoy building things and upcycling things out of found materials, rescued/thrifted furniture, and scrap lumber (the ReStore and Scrap Exchange are two of my favorite places!). I can find a use for almost anything. During COVID lockdown, I built an entire raised-bed garden out of old produce crates and curbed furniture.

What would you like to become known for at ALL4?

I hope to become known for my positive attitude and ability to get things done.

If you were stranded on an island, what are three things you couldn’t live without?

My dog, a portable water purifier, and my pocket knife with a flint stick (that I once started a campfire with in the rain!).

What is the one thing that most attracted you to ALL4?

ALL4 was recommended to me by a former colleague — the company culture sounded like a great fit 🙂
