WHAT’S THE WEBINAR ABOUT?

A successful transition to a clean energy economy is dependent upon the ability to store energy to optimize non-dispatchable sources, load balance for efficiency or enable off-grid mobility. Batteries will be an essential tool to store energy produced by these sources as we advance further down the path to the clean energy economy. Battery chemistries are evolving quickly with new technologies improving performance, capacity and cost. However, many common battery types, such as Lithium Ion, depend on supply chains and capacity dominated by countries such as China and Russia. In an effort to drive US competitiveness and energy security, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act seek to incent domestic production and operations with the goal of decoupling a successful energy transition from reliance on adversarial nations. To access those incentives, it is necessary to conform to requirements related to the sourcing of critical minerals and components. Market actors who can consistently prove the provenance of materials throughout the supply chain will have a competitive advantage both with suppliers and with customers.
