Significant Updates to Chemical Rules You Need to Know: Impacts of the CMAS and PEPO Proposals

Category: Webinar
Date: April 23rd, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM Eastern Time

WHAT’S THE WEBINAR ABOUT?

Continuing the momentum of the past several years as the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) is conducting its required periodic reviews of air rules, 2024 ended with proposed revisions to the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) standards for Polyether Polyols Production (PPP) and 2025 started with proposed revisions to the NESHAP for Chemical Manufacturing Area Sources (CMAS). These changes are the direct result of consent decrees which mandated that U.S. EPA issue proposals based on statutorily required risk and technology (RTR) reviews of PPP and CMAS by December 2024 and January 2025 respectively. They are similar to the revised NESHAPs for the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturing Industry (SOCMI) that were finalized in May 2024. In this webinar we discuss the proposed changes to both rules, with additional details regarding newly applicable monitoring requirements for heat exchange systems and flares. Finally, we will close out with a brief discussion on the potential implications associated with the announcement on March 12 that U.S. EPA is going to reconsider several recent rulemakings, including the May 2024 revisions to the SOCMI NESHAP standards.
